Nineteenth-century sailing ships displayed their names on decoratively carved and painted wood signs called quarterboards. When a ship's captain retired and went ashore he would acquire the quarterboard and place it on his house for all to admire.

Recognition in the S&DG Portfolio

In the final days of last decade, four Danthonia signs were featured in the Sign & Digital Graphics Portfolio 2009. Two of these signs; Pappy's Lighthouse Restaurant and Glen Innes Severn Council had already won some silverware in last year's USSC Sign Awards, so, needless to say, we were pleased to see them recognised again by the Sign Business judges. Happy New Year!
